Social Groups

What are Social Groups?
At Ocean Psychological Services, peer social groups are facilitated by a skilled provider. The focus of such groups is to support the development of social skills and peer relationships. In a social group, individuals learn how to communicate, develop new friendships, acquire problem-solving skills, build coping skills through emotional regulation, and build upon their perspective-taking skills.

Benefits of Social Groups:
Social groups can support an individual to acquire vital skills to support the development of healthy and meaningful relationships while supporting community inclusion. Such skills include but are not limited to turn-taking, problem-solving, and building upon pragmatic and social communication skills.

Social Groups at Ocean Psychological Services:
Our social groups are designed to facilitate various activities that incorporate role-play, interactive games, problem-solving, and educational exercises, amongst other skills utilizing an interactive approach in a group-based setting. We aim to empower such individuals with the tools they need to succeed within their social environment.
